I have enjoyed reading books this Christmas season that look at the birth of Jesus from several perspectives. The Light Gift A Voskamp Family Story is the last of our books that are directly about the birth of Jesus. I LOVE this story told from the perspective of a Jewish girl named Leora who is hoping to make it up to her Papa tending sheep in time to see her sheep give birth to a lamb. As her mama sends her on her way, with a few stops to make on the way, she reminds Leora to "Stay on the way and treat everyone as you would the coming King!" Leora does just this on her journey to meet up with her father. This story is a beautiful reminder that the time we take to help is never wasted. We won't miss what God intends for us if we take advantage of the opportunities to love those around us. This book is a must for your Christmas collection. The illustrations are beautiful. Leora has a wonderful journey that ends with her meeting the baby King. The book ends with some historical background information and Bible references that draw the story together.
